Internet in France

Now, everybody has their stories about Internet providers, so I can only write from my experience. For several years as ‘maison secondaire’ owners we had Le Compte Haut Débit  from Orange at 10 € a month. It was very, very basic, only 512K, but you only got charged as and when you connected once you had used up the free hour’s worth that came with the package (or ‘formule’). As a non-techie, I called it ‘dial-up broadband’!

There are so many packages on offer that it’s mind-boggling. You can have Internet, television, telephone and all sorts of things in a package, and have to look quite hard to find simple Internet. When we started living in France permanently, we switched to Orange’s Découverte – simple full-time broadband up to 8Meg for 19.99€.

As with anything, do your research!
